Senga Bay, Salima is the closest place to enjoy Lake Malawi when coming from Lilongwe. At an hour and a half drive from the city, you will find various accommodation options, but there is only one Kuwona Cottage!

Kuwona Cottage is a self-catering accommodation with one of the few private beaches in Senga Bay. Because you are enclosed on one side by large boulders, you are, as it were, in your own bay. Here you can safely swim, relax on the beach and enjoy beautiful views of Lake Malawi.

You rent Kuwona Cottage as a whole unit for a maximum of 8 people. This means you have the place to yourself and don’t have to share anything with other guests you don’t know.

This is the perfect accommodation on Lake Malawi for families or groups of friends looking to escape the city for a few days together. Bring your favourite drinks, snacks and games, and don’t forget to leave your phone in your bag!

The cottage has a large en-suite double bedroom and three bedrooms sharing a bathroom; one with a double bed and two with two single beds.

The kitchen has an electric and gas stove, fridge, freezer and is equipped with pots, pans, plates, glasses and cutlery.

If you wish, Lucius (who takes care of everything for Kuwona Cottage) can help with cooking and washing up. He is known for his delicious pancakes for breakfast and can buy fresh fish from the lake for you at the local market, and then prepare it deliciously.

Lucius is always there for you during your stay, without interfering with your privacy!

Activities on Lake Malawi

Besides relaxing and spending quality time with your family and friends, Kuwona Cottage offers safe swimming in Lake Malawi. Kayaks are also available for those who want to spend their time more actively. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen!

If you want to enjoy Lake Malawi in a more relaxed way, Lucius can help renting one of the fishing boats nearby. Boat trips are always fun and if you head to the island nearby, you can even snorkel to see some of the famous cichlid fish between the rocks.

Not far from Kuwona Cottage is the Sunbird Livingstonia Beach Hotel, where you are welcome in the restaurant for a meal or some drinks. As a day visitor you can also use the swimming pool or the water skis.
